The mission of the Lyford Cay International School Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) is to build a partnership between home and school that will enhance the academic, social and cultural development of our children.  The specific goals of the group are:

  1. To provide a social and cultural network for the Lyford Cay International School community through the promotion and organisation of activities.
  2. To welcome all new families and support them in the settling in process.
  3. To work in co-operation with the teachers and staff using the resources available within the Lyford Cay International School community to enrich the education of the students.
  4. To organize the volunteer efforts at Lyford Cay International School.
  5. To work as a “think tank” for the school’s continuous improvement and to communicate parents’ ideas and suggestions to the school principal and the School Board.
  6. To raise funds for the school.

The PTA activities are driven and managed by a core group of parent and teacher volunteers (Executive Committee) who are elected at the start of each school year.  However, every parent at the school is automatically a member of the PTA and is welcome to get involved in any of the activities and events.  In fact we actively welcome new parent ideas and involvement – many have come from other schools from which we can secure ideas and insight to further improve our own program.

The PTA has a full calendar of events - the majority of which are designed to generate community and fun!   The events attract a high level of participation and support, which generates enough funds to support specific projects across the school.  This past year the PTA raised in excess of $85k.
