Lyford Cay International School is an independent, non-denominational day school offering a high standard Nursery through Grade 12 education. The school is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and Middle Years program and is completing the authorization process to teach the Primary Years Program (and in the interim we are teaching the PYP). Additionally we are accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
The student body of 310 students is diverse, representing approximately 35 different countries, while roughly 38% of the students are Bahamian. The school benefits from an experienced and diverse teaching and administrative staff.
Within this multi-cultural and multi-national environment we create a rigorous yet caring atmosphere in which understanding of our world amongst diverse nationalities can be achieved. Our students are provided the opportunities and resources to become cross-cultural learners and internationally minded citizens ready to responsibly take on the challenges of the 21st century.
As a fully accredited International School, the curriculum is developed and delivered to an internationally recognized standard of excellence. In the past several years there has been a major revision of the entire curriculum to ensure that it meets the standards of the International Baccalaureate, while constantly improving the learning opportunities and environment for our students.
